CHAISE RÉPUTÉE DU XXE SIÈCLE

The Designer Editions style of the iconic LC2 Style Armchair is one of the first modern furniture line to take a radical step in making the furniture frame dramatic and visible aspect of the design in 1929 for the Salon d Automne art exhibition in Paris. This inside out sofa is composed of a simple tubular stainless steel frame and leather-covered cushions, a modernist response to the traditional chair that still manage to stay strong even after more than nine decades. The LC2 Armchair is a spacious chair which creates an impressive style statement in any environment.

Le Corbusier

Né Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris en 1887 en Suède, il prend le pseudonyme de Le Corbusier lorsqu'il s'installe à Paris en 1917. Cet architecte, designer, peintre, urbaniste et écrivain suisse-français fut l'un des pionniers de ce que l'on appelle aujourd'hui l'architecture moderne. Il a à son actif une longue liste de réalisations, notamment ce que de nombreux historiens de l'architecture ont appelé « l'âge de la machine ». Mais il restera à jamais l'icône du modernisme grâce à ses contributions à l'architecture moderne, qui se manifestent également dans ses créations de mobilier. On lui attribue cette citation : « Les chaises sont de l'architecture, les canapés sont bourgeois. »
